Born in South Central, Los Angeles, October 31, 1978, Phillip B. Martin aka Bishop Lamont started rapping at age 13. Heavily influenced by Hip Hop artists like, Run Dmc, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, NWA, EPMD, Tupac, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Dr. Dre.

Bishop fell completely in Love with Hip Hop and decided that being an emcee was his true calling and dream, from then on He honed his skills everywhere possible, ciphers at school during lunch, open mic events on college campuses, Project Blowed in Lemeirt park, BIGGA B/ UNITY events, and guesting on legendary radio shows such as the wake up show, Friday night flavors, Divine Forces, and doing radio drops for on air personality’s and DJs on all the major radio stations in Los Angeles. Bishop Lamont has been featured in Off the Radar and The Source’s Unsigned Hype section, Bishop also appeared in the soundtrack for the video game True Crime: Streets of LA, performing “True Crime” and “Let’s Get It Poppin”. He can be heard on three EA Sports video games. Tracks “The Best” and “We Got Next” are included in Madden 2007 and NBA Live 06respectively. “I’m a Soldier” was included in NFL Street 2. His song “City Lights” appeared in racing game Midnight Club: Los Angeles, and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

Dr. Dre met Bishop Lamont while filming The Game’s music video for “Dreams”, where Bishop met & gave his last demo directly to Dre as he walked out of his trailer on to set. Dr. Dre surprisingly shouted Bishop out on the radio, giving him praise on an L.A. radio station Power 106, Big Boy’s Neighborhood, where he told Big Boy, I’m looking for him, I want to sign him!!!!
Dr. Dre signed Bishop Lamont in 2005, despite a huge buzz, releasing numerous mixtapes and underground albums, Bishop’s debut album was never given a release date, and in 2009, Bishop & Dre/Aftermath parted ways. Bishop Lamont has worked with Dr. Dre, 50 cent, Busta rhymes, Hi-Tek, Mark Batson, Chris Noxx, Nottz, DJ Babu, Diamond D, Dj Khalil, 9th Wonder, Nick Speed, Royce Da 5’9, Ras Kass, B-Real, Frank Ocean, DJ Quik, Focus, Madlib, Xzibit, Warren G, Raekwon, Ghostface killah, Crooked I  and many more!

Bishop Lamont is currently gearing up to release his long awaited new album.
